Winery Plants
Nashik is popularly called as the Wine Capital of India. This is because there are a large number of Wine Plants located in and around Nashik. But did you know that wine has been made in India for as many as 5,000 years. Both red (Kandhari) and white wines (Bhokri, Fakdi, Sahebi etc.) were produced. Under British influence in the nineteenth century, vineyards were established in Kashmir and at Baramati in Maharashtra. However, Indian vineyards were totally destroyed by unknown reasons in the 1890s.
